’Dance is not a visual Art Form’ - Lars Charles Damsgaard. Dancer, Royal Danish Ballet
Nevertheless – this is an experiment of transforming the fleeting experience of dance: Bodies in motion, to the very concrete material, ceramics.
Opposed to the obvious differences, the moment will decide if magic occurs. And while dance is performed in the open, ceramics works in secrecy - in the closed chamber of the kiln at more than a thousand degrees.
Dance is based on three choreographies, in three different stages of work in process, three days in the fall, 2019 - by Danish Dance Theatre; working on Hail to the Good Listener, 2021 by Marie Torp, Kentauer, 2021 and Siren, 2021 by Pontus Lidberg.
Outside the studio was turned into a construction site. And the foundation cracks, the tall piles of asphalt sneaked into my process as a very concrete visualizing of work in progress.
